Starting with January.....
After Christmas break, I went back to school. John officially graduated in December and started working full time. He was so excited to be done with school and just focus on working. (Good thing he still likes it!) As a part of my Birthday gift (B-day in Dec), my mom gave me a plane ticket to go to New York with her, my sis Carli and her partner Jordan. I was so excited! We all went to a big Dance USA competition. I did Carlis hair and me and my mom watched. Plus, it was the first time that we girls got to be together on a trip like this. It was so fun! Here are some pics!
We arrived early Friday morning, because we took the red-eye Thursday night. Carli and my mom took a nap, while me and Jordan took a walk to Times Square. When we got back, we decided that Central Park would be a good place to visit. We stopped for lunch on our way and finally arrived to central park about 3 in the afternoon. It was so COLD, but we loved going! That night we took a ride up the Empire State Building. Sadly, my camera died! So, my pics are on my phone.
On the second day, Carli and Jordan wanted to get some practice time in before the competition. Sadly, I cant remember the name of the studio. Carli and Jordan are in dance position way far in the back of this picture. Me and my mom sat to watch for a little while and all of a sudden there was a cat on the dance floor. The owner told me that they had a mice problem and the only thing that worked was to get a cat. I think I had more fun watching the dancers avoid stepping on the cat. It seemed to me that the cat enjoy being around, or in the middle, of a bunch of fast moving bodies. What a great way to practice floor craft!
After practice, and a little shopping, we headed towards Times Square.
We ate at Bubba Gumps in Times Square. It was my first time there and It was so good!
After dinner we rushed back to the hotel, got Carli and Jordan ready and off to the comp!
Me and my lovely mother watching the comp.
Carli and Jordan did great! They made the final and took 6th. Their goal was to make the final, because then they would qualify to go to Nationals. And, they qualified!
Just had to get a pic with the sign and backdrop.
The next day, we had time to do a little site seeing before having to catch our plane. We went to the 9/11 memorial. It is amazing and I would definitely recommend going if you get a chance to go to New York.
I couldn't get the video to work, so instead I will post this pic. We took the subway everywhere and took some really fun video of us trying to stand with out holding onto anything, or we just played around. This is a pic of us riding the subway with all our stuff on our way to the airport. We had a really big scare on our way home. For some reason a lot of the subway was closed and we walked around the city for an hour before finding a subway station open to take us to the airport. It was so cold and my arms were getting tired of carrying all my stuff. For a while I thought we were going to miss our plane. We luckily made it 10 min before our plane was supposed to leave... but then our plane was 30 min delayed. In the end everything was fine.
Lets see... what else happened in Jan??
Oh ya! I decided to start dancing professionally with Nathan Cashion. We did our very first performance at an Elementary Team Match. With only a week and a half of practice we were able to throw something together to perform. I think it went all right. We don't look too bad, but I can definitely say that I think we have improved since then.
Oh, dang... I cant get this video to up-load either... I will try later. But for now, that was my Jan. adventures. Yes, I was doing this while in school... I know Im crazy.

I can verify what a crazy schedule you have had this past semester. It's fun to see your NY pics.
